The Baltimore Ravens have cut defensive back Victor Hampton, the team announced Monday.

Hampton was arrested Saturday for driving 100 miles per hour in a 55 mile-per-hour speed zone with a illegal blood-alcohol-level of .10, according to WSOC Television in Charlotte.

The arrest took place on North Carolina's Interstate 77, according to the report. As a state trooper approached the vehicle, he reported seeing two passengers attempting to hide firearms beneath the front passenger seat.

Hampton posted bond and was released from a Mecklenburg Co. jail. The legal blood alcohol limit in North Carolina is .08.

Hampton, 22, was an unsigned free agent out of the University of South Carolina until late last year, when he signed with the New York Giants practice squad. He then signed a future contract with the Ravens in January, according to the Baltimore Sun.

As a collegiate star during his junior season with the Gamecocks, Hampton logged 51 tackles and three interceptions. He forewent his senior season to declare for the NFL draft, but was not drafted in 2014.

Hampton could have faced a two-game suspension under the revised NFL substance abuse policy if found guilty of driving while intoxicated, ProFootballTalk reported Sunday.

However, in order for the substance abuse policy rules to take effect, Hampton would have had to been signed to a regular-season roster.
