Report: Jets considering pursuit of cornerback Darrelle Revis
New York Jets owner Woody Johnson and new general manager Mike Maccagnan have been discussing the possibility of pursuing current New England Patriots and former Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis should he hit the free agent market next week, reports the New York Daily News.
Revis is due a $12 million roster bonus next week and is scheduled to make $7.5 million in base salary next season, as part of the team option in his contract if he is on the team’s roster on April 1. Revis carries a $25 million salary cap hit for 2015.
Revis was unsure about his return to New England, saying in December, that he didn’t know what he his future held.
Johnson praised Revis during his end of season press conference after he fired coach Rex Ryan and general manager John Idzik.

“Darrelle is a great player and if I thought I could have gotten Darrelle for that, I probably would've taken him," Johnson said. "And it was our best judgment to do what we did. Darrelle's a great player. I'd love for Darrelle to come back."
Johnson backed off those statements when tampering accusations were being floated, instead saying he “misspoke” when making those comments about Revis.
Revis spent his first six seasons with the Jets before being traded in April 2013 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He spent one season in Tampa Bay before signing with the Patriots.
Revis, 29, had 47 total tackles, with two interceptions last season for the Patriots, helping them win the Super Bowl. He was named a first-team AP All-Pro for the fourth team in his career.
