Raiders RB Maurice Jones-Drew announces retirement from NFL
Oakland Raiders running back Maurice Jones-Drewannounced his retirement from the NFL on Thursday.
Jones-Drew, 29, retired after nine seasons in the league, eight of which were spent with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
"After much discussion with my family and business team during this offseason, I've decided to retire from the National Football League. The past nine years were absolutely amazing! I'll be forever grateful to the countless people who have assisted me throughout my NFL journey," Jones-Drew wrote.

The Jaguars chose Jones-Drew in the second round of the 2006 draft and he played in all 16 games of his rookie season, making one start.
Over his eight years in Jacksonville, he ran for 8,071 yards and 68 touchdowns, while adding 11 receiving touchdowns to go along with 2,873 receiving yards.
In his one season with the Raiders, Jones-Drew played 12 games and made one start, running for a career-low 96 yards on 43 carries.
Jones-Drew holds several Jaguars franchise records, including career touchdowns and most rushing touchdowns in a single season, which he did in 2009 when he ran for 15.
