The Chicago Bears will likely make a decision on quarterback Jay Cutler's future with the team by Tuesday, according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.

If Cutler is still on Chicago's roster on Tuesday, when the NFL calendar turns over, $10 million of his salary for the 2016 season becomes fully guaranteed. The additional money would make the quarterback even more difficult to trade, and would effectively mean committing to him for the next two seasons. Cutler is already due $15.5 million in guaranteed money for 2015.

Rapoport said on Thursday's edition of NFL Total Access that "teams certainly know that Jay Cutler is available" to be traded.

The new Bears regime, led by GM Ryan Pace and head coach John Fox, has been quiet on the matter. Cutler was benched for reserve Jimmy Clausen at the end of last season under Marc Trestman. He finished with 3,812 yards, a 66 percent completion rate and 28 touchdown passes. He tied Philip Rivers for the league lead with 18 interceptions. The Bears went 5-11 on the year.

On Friday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Chicago had agreed to send wide receiver Brandon Marshall to the New York Jets.
