The New York Giants are expected to sign former New England Patriots running back Shane Vereen, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports.

Yahoo Sports’ Rand Getlin reports the Patriots will have the chance to match the Giants’ offer to Vereen.

Vereen, 26, was a second-round pick by New England in the 2011 draft, and he has spent his entire four-year career with the Patriots.

He had 391 rushing yards, 447 receiving yards and five total touchdowns last season. Vereen recorded 64 rushing yards in New England’s victory over the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl last month.
