Court drops gun charge against RB Chris Johnson

A gun charge against free agent running back Chris Johnson has been dropped. Johnson, 29, was arrested in Orlando, Fla., in January for a second-degree misdemeanor gun charge. It was reported that he was charged for open carrying of a firearm, which was not covered by his license to carry.

A gun charge against free agent running back Chris Johnson has been dropped, Dom Cosentino of NJ.com reports.

Johnson, 29, was arrested in January in Orlando, Fla., in January for a second-degree misdemeanor gun charge. It was reported that he was charged for open carrying of a firearm, which was not covered by his license to carry.

On Sunday, Johnson was one of was one three victims in a drive-by shooting. While Johnson was released from the hospital later that day, the driver died from his wounds. Johnson told Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer that he did not suffer any serious injuries.

Johnson is a free agent after rushing for 663 yards and one touchdown last season for the Jets.

He played the first six seasons of his career with the Tennessee Titans, rushing for at least 1,000 yards in each season and surpassing the 2,000-yard mark in 2009.
