WFAA sports anchor Dale Hansen in Dallas ripped the Cowboys in a three-minute video commentary over the team’s signing of defensive end Greg Hardy.

Hansen has previously taken NFL teams to task for not signing free-agent Michael Sam and criticized local officials after students held up racist signs at a high school basketball game.

The Cowboys signed Hardy to a one-year, incentive-laden $11 million contract on Wednesday.

Hardy was found guilty last July of misdemeanor domestic violence after being accused of hitting an ex-girlfriend. He appealed the conviction and was set to stand trial last month, but charges were dropped after his accuser reportedly received a payout and could not be located by prosecutors.

Hansen started out his commentary saying the “Cowboys can't possibly sink any lower... they can't fall from grace any more than they have.”

“I don't care how good he is,” Hansen said. “I don't care if the Cowboys made a great deal. And I absolutely don't care about the argument so many of you make that what he does off the field just doesn't matter if he can help you win on the field,” Hansen said.

Hardy missed 15 games last season after being placed on the commissioner’s exempt list. He still could face punishment by the NFL under the league’s new personal conduct policy.

Hansen also criticized the Cowboys for letting players who have committed crimes to continue to play for the team.

“Greg Hardy's jersey is being sold at the Cowboys online pro shop now. You could get one for your sister or daughter and then explain to her that Hardy beats up women, but we're cheering him now because he's really good on game day, and game day is all that really matters to me.

“Your daughter will understand,” Hansen said.
