Jets re-sign defensive lineman Leger Douzable

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) The New York Jets re-signed veteran defensive lineman Leger Douzable to a one-year contract Wednesday.

Douzable has been a valuable backup on the Jets' line the last two seasons after signing as a free agent in 2013. He had a career-high 2 1/2 sacks last season, along with 38 total tackles.

Douzable, who turns 29 next month, has 95 career tackles and five sacks in 75 games in six seasons. He originally signed with Minnesota as an undrafted free agent out of Central Florida in 2008, and has also spent time with the New York Giants, St. Louis Rams, Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans.

He will likely compete for playing time at defensive end during training camp with free-agent signings Stephen Bowen, Kevin Vickerson and Ronald Talley.
