Gettleman says Panthers won't trade Day 2 picks

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) Carolina Panthers general manager Dave Gettleman has no plans to trade the team's two draft picks on Friday night in order to move up.

He says they're too valuable.

Gettleman believes this is a deep draft and there's still plenty of talent left on the board.

The GM says, ''I'm not a big mover that way.''

Gettleman stood pat at No. 25 on Thursday night selecting outside linebacker Shaq Thompson from Washington, the winner of the Paul Hornung Award given to the nation's most versatile player. The Panthers say Thompson will allow them to keep three linebackers on the field more often, giving them better matchups against opposing offenses.

The Panthers have eight picks left in the draft, including three in the fifth round thanks to two supplement picks.
