The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will not pick up the fifth-year option in running back Doug Martin's contract, reports Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times.

The decision not to pick up Martin's option means he will become an unrestricted free agent after this season.

Martin rushed for 1,454 yards and 11 touchdowns as a rookie but has failed to eclipse 1,000 yards since. He has recorded three total touchdowns over two subsequent seasons.

Tampa Bay selected Martin, 26, in the first round of the 2012 draft out of Boise State.

The other running backs on the Buccaneers' roster are Bobby Rainey, Mike James and Charles Sims.
