Jacksonville Jaguars rookie safety James Sample fractured his arm during organized team activities on Thursday, the team announced

Sample underwent surgery on his arm on Friday. He is expected to miss part of training camp, which begins in late July, the Jaguars said.

Head coach Gus Bradley said Sample had been expected to get some first-team repetitions at OTAs next week.

Sample's fracture is the second significant injury to a Jaguars rookie this off-season. First-round draft pick Dante Fowler tore his ACL during the first day of rookie minicamp and will be out for the entire 2015 season.

Jacksonville drafted Sample in the fourth round in the 2015 NFL draft. He played the 2014 season at Louisville, where he recorded 90 tackles and four interceptions.

The Jaguars finished third in the AFC South last season with a record of 3–13.
