Miami Dolphins rookie wide receiver DeVante Parker had foot surgery on Friday, the team announced.

The team said the surgery was performed at Baptist Health South Florida in Miami. The Miami Herald’s Armando Salguero was the first report the surgery.

The report did not state which foot Parker had surgery on or when he was injured, but says the surgery was performed as a precaution.

According to the report, Parker will not participate in the team's minicamp but should be ready to play by team’s season opener Sept. 13 against the Washington Redskins.

Parker, a 6'3" 209-pound speedster, was the 14th overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft and the third wide receiver selected.

The team will continue the mandatory minicamp with Greg Jennings, who signed a two-year, $8 million contract with the team this off-season, 2012 second-round draft pick Jarvis Landry, and Kenny Stills, who was traded to Miami for linebacker Dannell Ellerbe and a third-round draft choice in March.
