The NFL draft is over and free agency is winding down, but the NFL rumor mill is still abuzz. Many teams are finishing up minicamp this week and several big-name players skipped organized team activities while they negotiate new contracts. The workouts gave teams a chance to see their draft picks and new signings compete against established veterans. The free agents who have yet to sign contracts could end up with new homes soon as the start of training camp looms.

June 25

• FOX Sports reports that the Deflategate suspension appeal ruling for New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady should come in mid-to-late July.

• St. Louis Rams rookie running back Todd Gurley says his return for training camp is “looking pretty realistic.” Gurley has been recovering from a tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

• The Browns are continuing their contact with suspended wide receiver Josh Gordon, reports The NFL suspended Gordon for repeat violations of the league's substance abuse policy.

June 24

• The Denver Broncos tried to trade Peyton Manning to the Houston Texans, according to 94.1 FM in Denver. The Broncos said that any speculation about a trade is “false” and “inaccurate.”

• Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly said Tim Tebow is improved as a quarterback and will work hard to compete for a roster spot.  

• NFL Network reports that there are no further hearings scheduled for Brady after he testified under oath concerning his appeal of his four-game suspension for his role in the Deflategate scandal.

• Jacksonville Jaguars rookie running back T.J. Yeldon says he has himself last on the team's depth chart. Yeldon is competing with Toby Gerhart, Denard Robinson and Bernard Pierce for the starting nod.
