Report: Rams CB E.J. Gaines out for season after foot surgery
St. Louis Rams cornerback E.J. Gaines is out for the season, reports the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
According to the report, Gaines underwent surgery to repair a Lisfranc foot injury. The injury occurred during the first weekend of training camp.
Gaines started 15 games for St. Louis last season as a rookie and was competing against Trumaine Johnson for a starting spot this year. A team source told the Post-Dispatch that Gaines “will be 100%” when he returns from the injury after rehabbing.
A sixth round draft pick out of Missouri, Gaines was named to the Pro Football Writers of America All-Rookie team after recording 70 tackles, 15 passes defended and two interceptions in 2014.
