Miami Dolphins safety Louis Delmas will miss the 2015 season with a torn ACL, according to multiplereports

Delmas hurt the knee while running in coverage during the Dolphins' joint practice with the Carolina Panthers. He tore his ACL in the same knee last December.

The Dolphins signed Delmas to a one-year, $3.5 million contract in March, bringing him back to the team after Delmas played in 13 games last season. Miami Herald's Adam Beasley reports the Dolphins will save nearly $1 million if they place Delmas on injured reserve during the preseason.

Delmas has had an injury-plagued career, playing in all 16 games only once in six seasons before this year.

The Dolphins replaced Delmas with former fourth-round pick Walt Aikens for the rest of Wednesday's practice. Aikens is expect to compete for the job with Michael Thomas
