Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson out for season with knee injury
Monday August 24th, 2015

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson will miss the 2015 season with a “significant right knee injury,” the team announced Monday.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported Sunday the injury was a torn ACL.

Nelson hurt his knee during the Packers' preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. After making a catch, Nelson turned, slipped and fell to the turf.

Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey injured his ankle in the same game.

Nelson had 98 catches for 1,519 yards and 13 touchdowns last season. In his seven-year career, Nelson has 400 catches for over 6,000 yards and 49 touchdowns.

Randall Cobb, Davante Adams and Ty Montgomery are the next three receivers on the Packers' depth chart at wide receiver.

Nelson signed a four-year, $39 million contract with Green Bay in July of 2014.

Nelson posted a message on Facebook after receiving the diagnosis.

Thank you to my family, the Packers, my friends, my partners and Packers fans everywhere for your thoughts and prayers....
