The Falcons will sign quarterback Rex Grossman to a one-year deal on Wednesday, according to multiple reports.

NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport first reported that Grossman, 35, would be joining Atlanta after failing to make a roster in 2014.

Grossman spent last summer in training camp with the Browns, but was cut before the season began. He was offered a contract by Cleveland in late December after quarterbacks Brian Hoyer and Johnny Manziel went down with injuries, but he declined the offer to spend the holidays with his family.

Grossman will join T.J. Yates and Brad Renfree in backing up starter Matt Ryan.

The former Florida quarterback was last on a roster with the Redskins in 2013 and has not played in the regular season since starting 13 games for Washington in 2011.

Grossman has started for a full season only once in his NFL career, leading the 2006 Bears to an NFC championship and a spot in Super Bowl XLI, where they lost to Peyton Manning and the Colts 29–17.
