Report: Redskins coaches, ownership at odds over Robert Griffin III
Members of the Washington Redskins’ coaching and front office staff are ready to move on from Robert Griffin III, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter and Dianna Russini.
According to the report, “high-ranking” front office officials and coaches want to change quarterbacks, but are being met with resistance from Washington's ownership. The report says the Redskins have had trade conversations with a “handful of NFL teams,” but have found no takers for Griffin.
Griffin's relationship with coach Jay Gruden has reportedly been strained for a long time, though Griffin remains a favorite of owner Dan Snyder. The Redskins selected Griffin No. 2 overall in 2012, after trading numerous draft picks to the St. Louis Rams to move up for him.
Griffin has been plagued with injuries since a successful rookie season. In 2013, he was slowed down as he recovered from knee surgery. Last season, Griffin started only seven games due to ankle issues.

In the second week of this preseason, Griffin suffered a concussion. Initially he was expected back for the team's next game, then the Redskins said Griffin would be re-evaluated in one-to-two weeks.
The ESPN report says Washington is “determined” to start another quarterback besides Griffin in Week 1.
Griffin's contract is guaranteed for 2016 for injury only. According to the report, Washington's front office is not sure if it has the authority to release or trade Griffin.
