The Oakland Raiders have cut running back Trent Richardson, the NFL announced Monday.

Richardson, the No. 3 pick in the 2012 draft, was signed by the Raiders this off-season, after having been cut by the Indianapolis Colts in March.

Richardson was selected by the Cleveland Browns in 2012, and rushed for a disappointing 950 yards and 11 touchdowns as a rookie.

He was traded to the Colts during the 2013 season.

With Indianapolis for 14 games in 2013, Richardson averaged just 2.9 yards per carry. In 2014, he ran for a mere 519 yards and averaged 3.3 yards per carry.

In three preseason games with the Raiders this year, Richardson showed little improvement, gaining just 42 yards on 18 carries.

In March, the 25-year-old signed a two-year deal with Oakland that included $600,000 in guaranteed money.
