Last season, Jackson rushed for 525 yards and two touchdowns on 141 carries.
In what Bills GM Doug Whaley described as a “difficult decision,” the Bills released Jackson on Monday.
Jackson had been out three weeks with a hamstring injury but returned to action for Saturday’s Bills preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He ran for 41 yards on his first carry of the game.
NFL teams have until 4 p.m. ET on Saturday to trim their rosters from 75 to 53 players.
