Following his release by the New York Giants, punter Steve Weatherford posted a farewell message with his family on his agent's Youtube page.

"I'm filled with gratefulness and thanks for the opportunity to be a New York Giant,” Weatherford says in the video. “I'm so thankful for every opportunity I had to step on that field and I'd especially like to thank the owner, Mr. John Mara, for believing in me. And I'd also like to thank the greatest man that I've ever met, coach Tom Coughlin, for believing me and giving me the opportunity to be a New York Giant, even if it was just for a day.”

Weatherford, who played three seasons for the Giants, helped New York win Super Bowl XLVI in 2011. He previously played for the New York Jets, Jacksonville Jaguars, Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints.

The Giants opted to traded a late-round draft pick for Pittsburgh Steelers punter Brad Wing.
