Report: Jason Pierre-Paul, Giants re-structuring contract
The New York Giants and Jason Pierre-Paul are likely to rework his contract before he re-signs and joins the team, according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.
According to Rapoport, Pierre-Paul hopes to avoid missing six games on the NFL injury list while the Giants want to reduce his salary
Pierre-Paul has trained separately from the Giants during the offseason as his contract dispute has dragged on for several weeks. On July 4, the two-time Pro Bowler was also involved in a fireworks accident that cost him his right index finger.
Pierre-Paul hopes to not be placed on the NFL injury list, since he believes that he can return before the six-game requirement without pay.
The defensive end traveled to the Giants' practice facility in East Rutherford, New Jersey to meet with team doctors and take a physical.
The Giants will open the season on the road against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
