New York Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie left Sunday’s game against the Browns with an apparent left knee injury.

Cromartie was dropping back into coverage late in the second quarter, planted his left leg awkwardly, and fell to the ground without being touched. He was surrounded by five trainers and carted off the field.

Cromartie did not return to the game. He will have X-rays on Monday to determine the severity of the injury, according to CBSSports’ Jason La Canfora

Cromartie returned to the Jets this offseason on a four-year, $32 million deal. He played for the Jets from 2012 to ’13 and was a Pro Bowl selection in his final two years with the team.

Buster Skrine would likely take Cromartie’s spot in the starting lineup should he miss time.
