The SI Vault Podcast takes you through sports history with a dive into the archives of Sports Illustrated. Host Ted Keith speaks with legendary athletes as well as the writers who produced some of the most memorable pieces in the magazine’s 61-year history, and every week will include a reading of a classic SI story.

This edition of the SI Vault Podcast welcomes Sports Illustrated senior writer Tim Layden to talk about his story, "A Patriot's Tale," from the September 24, 2001 issue, a story of New England Patriots guard Joe Andruzzi and his brothers, all New York City firefighters, in the wake of the attacks on September 11th. After the reading, Keith speaks with Layden about the story, what it was like being with the family, where he was on that day and more.
