The Carolina Panthers host the Houston Texans on Sunday at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.

The Texans are coming off a 27–20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs where quarterback Ryan Mallett went 8-for-13 passing for 98 yards and a touchdown after replacing Brian Hoyer with six minutes remaining in the game. Mallett draws the start in Week 2. Wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins recorded nine catches for 98 yards and two touchdowns. On defense, J.J. Watt extended his sack streak to six games.

Cam Newton and the Panthers look to follow their 20–9 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 1. Newton completed 18-of-31 passes for 175 yards throughout the game. The Texans have won two of their last three meetings against the Panthers.
