Houston Texans running back Arian Foster likely won't play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Wednesday.

“He understands his body really well,” Texans head coach Bill O’Brien told the Houston Chronicle. “He’s looking good at practice. I’m not sure about this week. I would say he will be back sooner rather than later.”

Foster returned to practice on Sept. 17 on a limited basis for the first time since sustaining a groin injury on Aug. 3, but did not play in Houston's Week 2 loss to the Panthers. He underwent groin surgery on Aug. 7.

The 29-year-old rushed for 1,246 yards and eight touchdowns in 13 games last season. He added 327 receiving yards and five touchdowns through the air in 2014.

As an undrafted free agent out of Tennessee, Foster signed with the Texans in 2009 and has since been selected to four Pro Bowls.

He led the league in rushing in 2010, and was subsequently selected to the NFL's first-team All-Pro.

The Texans (0–2) host the Bucs (1–1) at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday on FOX.
