Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is active for Week 3, just hours after the birth of his son.

The Vikings congratulated Peterson and his wife Ashley on Twitter:

USA Today’s Tom Pelissero said Peterson told him during training camp he would play no matter when his son was born, though Peterson was hoping it would happen during the Vikings’ bye week.

Peterson and the Vikings play the San Diego Chargers on Sunday. This season, Peterson has 39 carries for 165 yards but no touchdowns in two games.
