Buffalo Bills running back Karlos Williams has been diagnosed with a concussion, the team’s general manger Doug Whaley told WGR SportsRadio 550 on Tuesday morning.

Williams sustained the injury during the Bills’ 24–10 loss to the New York Giants on Sunday.

Williams will now go through the NFL’s required concussion protocol and must be cleared before he can play again. His injury will be monitored day-to-day, meaning his status for Sunday’s game against the Titans is up in the air.

The news of Williams’s concussion is unfortunate for the Bills, who already lost starting running back LeSean McCoy indefinitely to a hamstring injury.

Without Williams on Sunday, Buffalo could turn to Boobie Dixon or Cierre Wood to fill the running back position. Whaley also said the team is looking into other running back opportunities, adding that former Bills running back and free agent Bryce Brown is a possible option.

Williams, 22, was selected by the Bills in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL draft out of Florida State. He rushed 18 times for 40 yards against the Giants and caught a 23-yard touchdown pass. He has rushed a total of 226 yards in four games this season.
