Dallas Cowboys coach Jason Garrett spoke with defensive end Greg Hardy about his recent comments about Tom Brady, reports Clarence Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

“We addressed it immediately,” Garrett said Thursday. “That’s not how we want to operate as an organization. Players and coaches in our organization understand that. We want to distinguish ourselves with our play, not with what we say. We define ourselves by what we do, not by what we say. Greg understands that now, and that’s how we’re going forward.”

In a press conference on Tuesday, Hardy said, “I love seeing Tom Brady. He’s cool as crap. You seen his wife? I hope she comes to the game. I hope her sister comes to the game. [I hope] all her friends come to the game....When I saw him marry [Gisele Bundchen], Tom went up in my eyes 100%. She’s very, very attractive and it shows what an outstanding individual Tom is.”

The New England Patriots quarterback responded to Hardy’s comments at a press conference on Wednesday with nonchalance.

“I don't really care about his personal feelings,” Brady said.

In the same press conference, which was his first since returning from a domestic violence suspension, Hardy also made a reference to guns in a comment about returning to the field.

“I hope I come out guns blazing,” Hardy said. “I’m full of excitement and full of juice.”

Hardy was given a 10-game suspension in April for allegedly throwing his then-girlfriend onto a futon covered in firearms. He was also accused of choking her and threatening to kill her. His suspension was reduced to four games following an appeal.

SI.com's Melissa Jacobs spoke with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on Tuesday.

When told about Hardy’s “blazin'” statement, Jones’s immediate response was, “Oh my goodness.” He then briefly paused before offering an explanation.

“Well, you’re not allowed to have guns on the football field. We all know that’s just a way of expressing yourself. I hope his guns are ablazin’,” Jones said.

Hardy will make his first appearance for Dallas on Sunday following his departure from the Carolina Panthers this off-season. The Cowboys (2–2) take on the Patriots (3–0) at home.
