Detroit Lions rookie running back Zach Zenner will be placed on injured reserve after sustaining multiple cracked ribs and a partially collapsed lung in the team’s 37–34 overtime win over the Chicago Bears, head coach Jim Caldwell told NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport.

Zenner signed with Detroit after going undrafted out of South Dakota State, where he ran for 2,000 yards in three straight seasons. Zenner has compiled 60 yards rushing through five games behind Ameer Abdullah in the Lions' backfield.

Theo Riddick was the team’s only tailback after Abdullah was pulled from Sunday’s game. Abdullah sustained a minor stinger injury on a fumble in the third quarter. Abdullah, Riddick and Zenner combined for 91 yards rushing on Sunday.

The Lions said they will consider calling up George Winn, who is on the practice squad. Detroit has also brought in multiple running backs during workout days over the past few weeks.
