Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett has confirmed that running back Darren McFadden will start against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, reports the NFL Network’s Desmond Purnell.

Garrett said before the team’s practice Wednesday that he was happy with McFadden’s performance last Sunday. The running back ran 29 times for 152 yards and one touchdown against the New York Giants.

“It was good to see that he had it in him. Once he got going in that ballgame, I think we all felt that let’s keep giving this guy the rock. I just thought he played really, really well in the game and took advantage of opportunity. I think his impact on the running game was significant," Garrett said.

McFadden filled in for Joseph Randle, who sustained a back strain during the Cowboys’ first drive of the game against the Giants. Randle’s status for Sunday’s game has yet to be determined.

McFadden, 28, was selected fourth overall by the Oakland Raiders in the 2008 NFL draft. He spent seven seasons with the Raiders before signing a two-year contract with the Cowboys in March.
