The Chargers defense helped make up for a mistake by its offense early in Monday’s game against the Bears

After a Chargers fumble gave the Bears good field position, Chicago quarterback Jay Cutler threw an interception and Jason Verrett returned it for a touchdown.

Cutler tried to find Alshon Jeffery near the first down marker but the throw was behind Jeffery and Verrett was able to pick it off.

The play gave San Diego a 13–0 lead after Josh Lambo missed the extra point.

The Bears answered with a touchdown on their next drive, however, on a one-yard pass from Cutler to Martellus Bennett, making Cutler the Bears franchise leader in all-time touchdown passes with 138.
