Report: NFL may not punish players who wear tributes to Paris victims
The NFL is considering loosening its uniform policy Sunday to allow players to pay tribute to the victims of the recent attacks in Paris, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com said during an appearance on NFL Network on Sunday.
The NFL has not officially made an announcement regarding the issue, however, Rapoport reported that that the league may allow players to modify their uniforms.
“I am told, although there has been nothing official, do not be surprised if this is like it was after Sandy Hook a couple of years ago where players will not be fined for showing support.” he said.
The move would break with NFL policy that does not allow for unique customization of the standard uniform. League officials have faced backlash in recent weeks for fining players who wore pink in honor of breast cancer awareness.
The NFL will also honor the Paris victims with a moment of silence at each game Sunday. According to Rapoport, the French flag will also be shown on videoboards.
