The Arizona Cardinals host the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday night to begin Week 14 action. With just four weeks remaining in the regular season, several games this weekend have playoff implications. Everyone is chasing the Carolina Panthers, who remain the NFL’s only unbeaten team after defeating the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.

• The Chicago Bears have placedMartellus Bennett on season-ending IR because of a rib injury. The team signed Rob Housler to replace him.

• The Denver Broncosannounced they have released quarterback Christian Ponder just 13 days after signing him. Denver has not yet signed anyone to replace Ponder.

• Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoytold teammates he “needs them” to beat his old team, the Philadelphia Eagles, on Sunday, reports ESPN’s Mike Rodak.

• Michigan Wolverines tight end Jake Butt will return to the team for his senior season, he announced on Twitter.

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgeraldtold ESPN’s Josh Weinfuss he still wishes the Cardinals had taken running back Adrian Peterson in the 2007 draft. Arizona instead selected offensive tackle Levi Brown, who played for the Cardinals until 2013.

• The NFL will form a committee to help better define what a catch is and Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryantwants to help. He told USA Today that “they need to call me, so I can have my input.”

• Clemson Tigers pass rusher Shaq Lawson will forgo his senior year to enter the NFL Draft, he told Fox Houston.

• Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy has a chance to regain his starting job, Packers head coach Mike McCarthy told ESPN’s Rob Demovsky​.
