Carolina Panthers running back Fozzy Whittaker sustained a high-ankle sprain Sunday and will miss the team’s upcoming game, reports NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport.

Whittaker sustained the injury during the Panthers’ 20–13 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. He is “hopeful” for the playoffs, according to the report.

Whittaker is in his second season with the Panthers. He has appeared in 15 games this season, carrying the ball 25 times for 108 yards and one touchdown.

The 14–1 Panthers have clinched a first-round bye in the post-season. They play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in their final regular season game.
