Ben Roethlisberger has been helping out a young Steelers fan who can’t quite agree with his dad’s rooting interests.

Thirteen-year-old Alex Bentley of Oxford, Oh. (home to Miami University, where Roethlisberger attended) loves the Steelers. A lot. His dad Trevor, however, is a major Bengals fan. The two teams face off in an AFC wild card game this weekend.

“In third grade, his teacher used to wear Steelers ties and sweaters and talk trash about the Bengals,” Trevor Bentley told FOXSports.com. “He eventually convinced my son at an impressionable age that they were a better team. So for the last six or seven years, it's never changed no matter how much ribbing he gets in the Jungle [Paul Brown Stadium].”

If you needed more evidence, check out Alex receiving a Troy Polamalu jersey for his birthday in 2011.

So, Roethlisberger caught wind (via the below video, which shows Alex opening tickets to the teams’ week 14 matchup) and intervened.

Excited

He sent a signed, game-worn cleat to Alex, which he opened on Christmas Day, and steeled (no pun intended) his fanhood even further.

Thanks Ben! I am thankful that you made my boy smile this morning but it still doesn't change the way I feel about the Steelers! Who dey! Posted by Trevor Isaac Bentley on Friday, December 25, 2015
