The total number of diagnosed concussions in the NFL increased this season, the league reported.
There were 271 documented concussions this past season, the NFL found. The number includes concussions sustained during preseason.
The data shows that 37 concussions were sustained during practice, while 234 were sustained during games.
The number of concussions has increased since last year, when the NFL documented 206, and is the highest number of diagnosed concussions over the past four years.
Most of the concussions recorded stemmed from helmet–to–helmet contact, according to the NFL.
