San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick is reportedly interested in leaving his team to join the New York Jets, according to the New York Daily News.

The Daily News also reports that the Jets are aware of Kaepernick’s interest, but the team is still evaluating their choices for the off-season.

Kaepernick was benched halfway through the season after the team decided to start Blaine Gabbert. He threw for 1,615 yards and six touchdowns over nine games.

The quarterback still has five more years left on his $114 million contract, which he signed in 2014. In order to make the move to New York, the Jets would have to trade for Kaeperick or pick him up if the 49ers decide to cut him.

San Francisco finished the season with a record of 5–11 and fired head coach Jim Tomsula in his first year with the team.

The 49ers then hired former Philadelphia Eagles coach Chip Kelly.
