Police in Denver had to disperse crowds with pepper spray and arrested a dozen people following the Broncos’ 24–10 in over the Panthers in Super Bowl 50, according to the Denver Post

The arrested fans were booked on a variety of charges, including criminal mischief, starting fires and gun violations.

The incidents occurred as fans partied in the streets after the conclusion of the game. They stayed in the streets for hours until being dispersed by officers wearing riot gear.

No injuries were reported from the confrontations between fans and officers.

Fan unruliness and even rioting is not uncommon following big sporting events, however, a Denver police spokesman said things were handled appropriately.

“Overall, things went pretty well,” police spokesman Sonny Jackson said. “There were a handful of people who were somewhat unruly.”
