A warrant for the arrest of Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy is expected to be issued soon after McCoy allegedly assaulted two off-duty police officers over the weekend, reports ESPN’s Mark Schwarz.

However, the decision on the warrant will not likely be issued on Thursday as the district attorney’s office wants the investigation to be as thorough as possible before issuing charges, Schwarz reports.

McCoy is one of four suspects under investigation for the incident, and investigators have recommended he be charged with aggravated assault, reports WPVI Philadelphia.

An argument over a bottle of champagne led to McCoy and the three other men having a physical altercation with the two Philadelphia police officers early Sunday morning, according to the police report.

Officer Roland Butler was treated at a hospital for a laceration to his right eye, broken nose, broken ribs and sprained thumb. The other officer received eight stitches over his left eye and was evaluated for a possible skull fracture.

A third officer was reportedly also involved in the altercation, and has filed a police report of his own, according to ESPN.

No arrests were made at the time of the incident, and the officers are not expected to face internal discipline.

On Tuesday, McCoy’s lawyer Jack McMahon said his client would turn himself in if charges are issued, but on Thursday McMahon withdrew himself from the case. Attorney Larry Krasner will take his place.

McCoy, 27, played for the Philadelphia Eagles for six seasons before an off-season trade sent him to Buffalo for the 2015 season. In his first year with the Bills, the four-time Pro Bowler rushed for 895 yards with three touchdowns in 12 games.
