Former Florida State Seminoles linebacker Reggie Northrup is the first NFL hopeful to sign with rapper Lil Wayne's Young Money Sports Agency, he told the Tallahasse Democrat.
The four-time Grammy award winner posted a photo of the him and Northrup on his Instagram on Tuesday. Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr., was in attendance at FSU's Pro Day in Tallahassee, Fla. The two reportedly first met during a video shoot in California for 2 Chainz’s “Bounce.”
“Lil Wayne seen something in me,” Northrup told the paper. “He’s seen me play. He wanted to start something up, and get involved in the sports world. He’s a big fan of sports. He liked my game, and they wanted to do something with me.”
Northrup played in 13 games for the Seminoles last season and finished the year with 94 tackles.
Wayne looks to dip his toes into sports marketing after Jay-Z's Roc Nation Sports has signed athletes like CC Sabathia, Dez Bryant, Kevin Durant, Miguel Cotto, Robinson Cano and Ndamukong Suh.
