Former Houston Texans quarterback Brian Hoyer will visit the New York Jets on Tuesday, reports Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.

La Canfora reports the Jets expressed interest in Hoyer last year, so the meeting came as no surprise after Hoyer became a free agent following his release by the Texans on Sunday.

The Jets have been working on re-signing quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, but were reportedly still not close on getting a deal done as recently as last week.

Hoyer spent just one year in Houston after playing the previous six seasons of his career for the Patriots, Cardinals and Browns. He started in nine of 11 games in 2015 and completed 60.7% of his passes for 19 touchdowns, seven interceptions and 2,606 yards.

Hoyer became expendable to the Texans after they signed Brock Osweiler and Brandon Weeden this off-season.
