Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson said that he is not ready to name Robert Griffin III his starting quarterback, but he expects to make a decision about the position well before the start of the season, according to Cleveland.com.

“We haven’t gotten into OTAs yet. We just have had off-season and voluntary veteran minicamp and now we've got the rookies in and I think that’s way too soon. I would never do that. Again, every position is earned. There’s always competition and there's a reason behind it.

“At some point in time, I’m sure with Sashi [Brown] and myself, we’ll make a decision on which direction to go, and it will be the right time. Timing is everything and we’ll get there when we need to.”

Jackson said that the hope to be to identify a starting after OTAs, which end on June 2.

Along with Griffin, the Browns also have rookie Cody Kessler, Josh McCown, Austin Davis and Connor Shaw on the roster.
