Johnny Manziel’s attorney, who accidentally texted the Associated Press about the former Cleveland Browns quarterback’s domestic violence case, has withdrawn from the case, according to ESPN.com.

Last week, Hinton inadvertently delivered a text message to the AP that noted his doubts about the quarterback’s ability to stay clean. A receipt was also sent that may have indicated the quarterback spent more than $1,000 in drug paraphernalia.

Colleen Crowley, Manziel’s ex-girlfriend, has accused Manziel of hitting and threatening her during and incident in January. He faces a misdemeanor assault charge that carries a sentence of up to a year in jail and a $4,000 fine.

Manziel’s spokesman denied that the former Heisman Trophy winner was seeking a plea deal in his case.

Last week, Manziel’s father told ESPN that he wanted his son to get clean but called him “a druggie.”

Manziel was also reportedly involved in a hit-and-run crash last week.

Manziel, who is currently a free agent, has reportedly been preparing to play football again in 2016 after being released by the Browns in March.
