Report: Patriots’ Rob Ninkovich out 4-6 weeks with torn tricep
Patriots linebacker Rob Ninkovich will be out 4-6 weeks with a torn tricep.
Patriots linebacker Rob Ninkovich will be out 4-6 weeks with a torn tricep he sustained in Tuesday’s scrimmage against the Saints, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports.
According to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport, Nikovich did not tear his tendon, so surgery won’t be necessary.
The Patriots need Ninkovich, and Jabaal Sheard, to compensate for the loss of Pro Bowler Chandler Jones in an off-season trade to the Cardinals. Chris Long, Geneo Grissom and Trey Flowers should be next in line for opportunities.
Nikovich, an 11-year veteran, recorded 6.5 sacks, 52 tackles and a career-high seven passes defended last season.
