Four-time Pro Bowl safety Eric Berry will end his holdout and return to the Chiefs next week, reports NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport.

Berry and the Chiefs could not agree to a long-term contract this off-season, and the team eventually placed the franchise tag on the safety. Berry never signed the tag so he could not be fined for missing training camp.

He reportedly will sign the one-year, $10.8 million tender next week.

Despite not playing during the preseason, Chiefs coach Andy Reid told NBC Sports on Friday he expects Berry to be ready for Week 1.

In 16 games last season, Berry recorded 61 tackles and two interceptions. He won Comeback Player of the Year after Hodgkin’s lymphoma cut short his 2014 season.
