Michael Bennett reportedly signs with Seattle Seahawks

The market for free-agent pass-rushers has been cooler than just about anyone expected. And the Seattle Seahawks are taking full advantage.

Less than 24 hours after landing Cliff Avril, the Seahawks came out of nowhere to sign former Buccaneer Michael Bennett to a one-year deal worth $5 million, as reported by Pro Football Talk. Avril's deal came in at two years and $15 million.

Both contracts are way off of what those players could have received under different circumstances -- Avril turned down a reported three-year, $30-million offer from Detroit last year, while the Buccaneers would have owed Bennett just shy of $11 million had they used the franchise tag on him this offseason.

Instead, the Seahawks added both players to their well-stocked defensive front seven.

Do the Seahawks have a clear spot for Bennett? Not necessarily, as they're pretty full at outside linebacker with Avril and Bruce Irvin already on the roster, and Chris Clemons working his way back from an injury. Maybe Bennett sees some time at defensive end; maybe he shares that pass-rush rotation.

At the low cost that they landed the ex-Tampa Bay star, they'll be more than happy to find some way to use him.

Bennett recorded nine sacks for the Buccaneers last season, plus had 48 QB hurries (No. 3 for all ends). He reportedly met with the Dolphins earlier Thursday and had scheduled time to visit Detroit -- only to sign up with Seattle.

Just how good could Seattle's pass-rush be now? Avril, Bennett, Clemons and Irvin combined for 38 sacks last season.

Grade: A. Again, the only aspect of this that's even close to a negative is that Seattle cannot possibly play all of these pass-rushers at the same time. Other than that, this is an absolute steal for a team that just keeps adding talented players.
