An unexpected finding during a test of Star Lotulelei's heart at the NFL combine threatened to drastically lower the Utah defensive lineman's draft standing. Now, approximately three weeks before the draft, Lotulelei's future looks bright again, as he was cleared medically by a cardiologist at the University of Utah.

Dr. Josef Stehlik reportedly sent a letter to all NFL teams, according to ESPN's Joe Schad, that declared Lotulelei able "to participate in professional athletics without restrictions."

More on the recent update, from Liz Mullen of the Sports Business Journal:

These revelations come shortly after Lotulelei impressed scouts during Utah's Pro Day. He had been unable to participate in drills at the combine, due to an examination that raised questions about the left ventricle in his heart.

Any NFL team interested in taking Lotulelei -- and the Chiefs, at No. 1 overall, certainly look like a possible fit for the 6-foot-2, 311-pound tackle -- will run their own check-ups on him. However, should he pass those, too, Lotulelei again would be considered among this draft's top prospects.

Lotulelei landed at No. 10 on the latest SI Big Board, while Don Banks projected him to the Tennessee Titans (also at No. 10) in his latest mock draft.
