The Carolina Panthers will need to focus on rebuilding their wide receiver corps after cutting veteran Steve Smith loose last week, and at least one player wants the Panthers to know he's available.
Green Bay Packers receiver James Jones has been generating very little interest in free agency since the market opened, so he is hoping that his comments will catch the eyes of the Panthers brass.
“I would love the opportunity to play for the Carolina Panthers,” Jones told Josina Anderson of ESPN. “I would love to play with Cam [Newton].”
The good news for Jones is that more teams may decide to reach out now with the market settling following the early wave of big money signings. Of course, that also means less money for Jones, but at least he will have the opportunity to prove himself on the field.
If the Panthers return Jones' interest, then we could see a deal happen in the coming days. Until then, we will continue to wait and see if any team reaches out to Jones and his camp.
