2014 NFL free agency: Richie Incognito ready for return after leaving rehab

Out of rehab and on the market, Richie Incognito is seeking an NFL team to give him a shot after his bullying of Jonathan Martin. Free agent Richie Incognito is seeking an NFL team to give him a chance after his bullying of Jonathan Martin. (David Durochik/AP)

There is essentially no chance that offensive lineman Richie Incognito will return to the Miami Dolphins in 2014, but he is still ready and excited to possibly return to the NFL. Incognito took to Twitter after leaving the treatment center he checked in to "in the wake of severe mental stress," thanking his family and friends for their support and saying he was ready to get back to work.

Incognito hasn’t played in the NFL since early November, when he was suspended by the Dolphins indefinitely a few days after left tackle Jonathan Martin left the team, apparently distraught by Incognito’s hostility and aggression in several forms — in person, via text, and otherwise. The recently released Wells report paints a picture of Incognito as a man clearly out of control, Martin as a man unable to deal with someone of Incognito’s ilk, and the Dolphins as an organization clearly incapable of dealing with (or even knowing about) such dysfunction.

Incognito will likely face discipline from the league after being implicated in the Wells report for bullying and harassing Martin, so his list of suitors in the free-agent market may be limited. The 30-year-old made the Pro Bowl in 2012 but appeared in just eight games last season as the bullying scandal unfolded.
